Usher in the Year of the Rabbit with a playlist of Lunar New Year tunes from Singapore

A time for family reunions, feasts, and of course, the collection of ang baos (red packets), the Lunar New Year is a joyous occasion that many in Singapore look forward to each year.

From doing spring cleaning and filling your home with red decorations to shopping for new outfits to show off to your Instagram followers in your "Outfit of the Day" shots, there is always plenty to be done in the busy few weeks before the festival. For music artists, the lead-up to the Lunar New Year also serves as a window to launch their creations for the festive season.

To usher in the Year of the Rabbit, we have put together a playlist of locally created Lunar New Year tunes that are guaranteed to inject an extra dose of happiness and energy into your gatherings with your friends and loved ones.

If you're in need of something fun for a late-night celebration, KoFlow's electronic track 'New Year Good' and Chantalle Ng, Desmond Tan, Fang Rong, He Ying Ying, Romeo Tan, and Tasha Low's new release '哈皮兔和春风赛跑' might just do the trick. But if you're seeking classic tunes that you can enjoy with your elderly relatives, you can always turn to Maggie Teng's '春聯紅' and Zhang Xiao Ying's 'Gong Xi Gong Xi'.

Also worth checking out is The TENG Ensemble's 'Chinese New Year Medley 2022', which features imaginative jazz renditions of three traditional numbers '凤阳花鼓', '贺新年', and '春风吻上我的脸'.

Without further ado, here is Hear65's playlist of festive tunes from the Lion City. Happy Lunar New Year!
