Charlene Su’s new release, titled ‘don’t wanna grow up’, is a coming-of-age anthem lamenting the process of maturing into adulthood. The tune's groovy, toe-tapping lo-fi bedroom pop along with its yellow-text cover art represents a zeitgeist of the millennial era. Beneath the self-deprecating humour, the song juxtaposes a jarring dose of reality with a chorus that wishes that she could stop time and remain “forever 23”. Set to be released on 11 October 2019 (ironically, the day she turns 24), “don’t wanna grow up” will be available for listening on all digital streaming platforms.
