GRACEFUL is an honest, personal and vulnerable telling of an unfolding long-distance relationship. The album starts with the couple finding themselves moments before being separated. Full of hope, they make wishful promises and paint a lofty picture of their transcendent love and ultimate reuniting. As time goes by however, the boy finds himself conflicted with loneliness, uncertainty and feeling lost. While reminiscing of times spent together, he comes to the sober realization that love from a distance is not the same. He maintains a façade of amicability while struggling to feel connected or loved. Guilt eventually overwhelms him as he fails to reciprocate the love he's been given. Whether in guilt or in grace, he finally takes the painful step to exit the relationship. In step with the wide range of emotions across the tracks, the album starts off dreamy and laid back, then transitions through a 1950s Doo-Wop theme to accentuate a sense of nostalgia, before finally finishing with a soulful rock ballad.
