“HA” personifies COVID-19 as a villain. Most of the song (excepting the bridge) is written from the villain’s perspective, depicting it encouraging Singapore to give up hope. The song’s title is a reference to both the laugh of an evil villain and the Heightened Alert period during Singapore’s phased transition away from circuit breaker measures. The bridge is written from the perspective of the local government, but is not to be taken as representative of the Singapore Government, as even though the overall message is similar to their stance during the vaccination campaign, creative liberties have been taken.
