MICappella have released a new music video for their latest medley, 'Evolution of Disney Songs', which sees them revisit iconic hits from the classic 'When You Wish Upon A Star' from Pinocchio to Frozen 2's 'Into The Unknown'.
The Evolution series is a popular fixture in the a cappella band's discography, having garnered a total of over 2.7 million views, with 'Evolution of Chinese Pop Songs' being awarded the 'Best World Video' at the 2019 A Cappella Video Awards (AVAs). Their latest addition to the string of Evolution medleys dives deep into the treasured troves of some of Disney's most beloved musical numbers, featuring 23 most iconic songs that have stood the test of time and continue to resonate with us even today.
Their new music video finds them working with Jaze Phua, who conceptualised, directed and acted in it. He had worked with the band previously on one of their Mandarin medleys, '那些年的小幸运', a mashup of Hu Xia's 'Those Years 那些年' and Hebe Tien's 'A Little Happiness 小幸运' which hit over 2.1 million views.
“After MICappella shared this nostalgic and impressive Disney medley with me, I told myself I needed to match it with an impressive video to keep up with it. Personally I feel the concept of a one-take format is more captivating especially for medleys,” shared Phua.
On their new medley, MICappella member, Tay Kexin, had this to say: "“We’ve had so many fans requesting for us to do a Disney medley, so we finally did it! And to spice things up, we decided to dress up as Disney characters and took up Jaze’s challenge of completing the entire music video in just ONE TAKE! It was such a mad rush but we pulled it off and it was definitely worth it!”
