When it comes to music, music videos are important supplements to what we can hear as they stimulate our visual senses in a way that sound cannot.

From creative homemade projects to cinematic works that beg to be seen on a big screen, all forms of music videos are released by Singapore's talented musicians seeking to extend the stories told in their songs every month. In this monthly series, we will be rounding up the latest releases from our sunny island that might fly under the radar.

lullaboy - 'coming home' (feat. yaeow) 

Released: 26 July 2024

lullaboy is back with a gorgeous new album called coming home, which comes with an epynomous single featuring Swedish singer-songwriter Lars Häggström aka yaeow. Their collaboration comes with a music video of featuring both artists wandering streets, bridges and trails as they consumed by yearning and regret.


Yi Ran Krystal - '《偷偷的爱你》'

Released: 1 July 2024

After garnering attention in singing competitions like Mediacorp Battle of the Buskers and UFM100.3 Busk King - Yi Ran Krystal has recently begun releasing original music. The burgeoning singer's first single is '《偷偷的爱你》' a sweet ditty that accompanied with an appropiately cute, pastel-hued music video directed by Jessica Lim.


JJ Lin - '《絕不絕 SHUT UP》'

Released: 21 July 2024

Mandarin superstar JJ Lin is back with a modern day battle hymn entitled '《絕不絕 SHUT UP》'. The single, which heeds us to focus on our inner beings and bring out most authentic versions of ourselves, is emphasised in this propulsive and confident music video.


Sherman Zhuo - 'endless shine'

Released: 1 July 2024

Mandopop star Sherman Zhuo recently wowed followers with his eagerly anticipated English-language debut ‘endless shine’. Created in collaboration with Geneco Singapore for their ‘here. sunrise x sunset’ initiative, this gentle ballad and its music video - set in NParks’ new therapeutic garden at East Coast Park - reminds us breathe, pause and be present.


Haven- 'Easy'

Released: 25 July 2024

Caracal - 'Dive'

Released: 11 July 2024

Caracal follow-up their previous single 'Burn' with a feverish and urgent new music video for their latest track 'Dive'. Directed, shot, and edited by the band’s longtime collaborator, Nauful Tan, the video depicts the disprienting journey of nameless protagonist as he is pursued by a masked stranger.


Shigga Shay - 'Overachieve 出奇制胜'

Released: 18 July 2024

ShiGGa Shay's the third single from his highly anticipated upcoming Mandarin mixtape project, Hanyu Pinyin, is an introspective track that delves into the beauty of tenacity. ‘Overachieve 出奇制胜’ comes with a crimson-washed lyric video that juxtaposes urban landscapes with ancient Chinese warrior imagery.


Mila Bea - 'NEAT'

Released: 26 July 2024

Judging by her debut single 'NEAT', 15-year-old newcomer Mila Bea is probably going to be huge in the very near future. Her haunting vocals and indie folk-rock songwriting are an instantly winsome combination. Best of all, the first release off her upcoming album is accompanied by an adorably animated lyric video!


Rahul Advani - 'Goodbye My Friend'

Dropped in conjunction with his latest EP Elements (produced and recorded by 53A's Bani Hidir), Rahul Advani's new single is a heartfelt ballad that celebrates the complexity and messiness of friendship. The music video for 'Goodbye My Friend' sees the singer on a sojourn of memory and acceptance on the way to "The Afterlife".


Reserate - 'Weightless'

Released: 1 July 2024

Taken off Reserate's recently released four-track EP Weightless, this eponymous track comes with an official playthrough video starring band members Kevyn Chan and Coral Liaw. These real life guitar heroes take viewers through the dexterous, fingerworking complexities of their hard-hitting single.
