Syaz Smooth - 'No Label'
Released: 8 June 2024
If you’ve been yearning for the nostalgic allure synonymous with 90s R&B, this one’s for you. Set against a minimal backdrop, Syaz Smooth takes centre stage in his bomber jacket and black shades, delving into the intricate dynamics of his relationship with his captivating, silky vocals.
Caracal - 'Burn'
Released: 20 June 2024
Simultaneously intense and vulnerable, the music video for Caracal’s latest single zeroes in on the expressive faces of lead singer Rachel Lu and bassist/backing vocalist Trent Davis as they lament on self-doubt and existential anguish. The visceral imagery evoked by director and KittyWu co-founder Errol Tan perfectly distils the theme of ‘Burn’, which was written about the quandary one faces when a “shared journey with a significant other reaches an impasse.” A poignant and powerful introduction to the post-hardcore veterans’ forthcoming album, Effigies.
Bernice Ong - 'Make You Cry'
Released: 23 June 2024
Singer-songwriter Bernice Ong transports us into a seemingly whimsical world as she croons, poses and dances with a varicoloured “Pinata Man”, punctuated by falling balloons and pastel animation. But that playful mood quickly turns toxic as a whirlwind of insecurity and possession takes over in the cute yet capricious music video for ‘Make You Cry’.
Shye - 'WONDERFUL DAY'
Released: 14 June 2024
True to its title, the music video for ‘WONDERFUL DAY’ will undoubtedly bring a smile to your face, especially with Shye at the helm of the director and editor. The bright and feel-good melodies perfectly enhance the eye-catching video featuring vibrant multi-coloured neon lights, distinctive editing elements such as the fish eye lens, and fun props like a cat-sticker-filled book.
ShiGGa Shay- What You Gon Do
Released: 13 June 2024
Hot off his star-making turn on the newest season of popular reality competition show The Rap of China, our premiere hip-hop export drops a menacing new track that harkens back to the golden era of boom bap. ‘What You Gon Do’ also comes with a retro-futuristic lyric video that depicts the computer-generated silhouette of a figure running across grainy monitors.
