When it comes to music, music videos are important supplements to what we can hear as they stimulate our visual senses in a way that sound cannot.

From creative homemade projects to cinematic works that beg to be seen on a big screen, all forms of music videos are released by Singapore's talented musicians seeking to extend the stories told in their songs every month. In this monthly series, we will be rounding up the latest releases from our sunny island that might fly under the radar.

Blush - 'X My Heart'

'X My Heart' is a shimmering burst of guitar pop that contrasts its vibrant sound with a deeply melancholic core. Anchored by the striking line “cross my heart and I hope to die in this sick sad world that’s never mine,” the track captures a bittersweet mix of wistful yearning and romantic disillusionment. Taken from their upcoming album Beauty Fades, Pain Lasts Forever, the song showcases Blush’s knack for crafting dreamy yet emotionally raw compositions. Its accompanying video mirrors this duality, unraveling from soft-hearted longing into a spiralling vision of dark delusion.

Half Open Tales - 'Look So Pretty'

'Look So Pretty', the second single from Half Open Tales, is a bold and breathless plunge into the thrill and fallout of one-sided love. Energetic and defiant, the track fuses modern pop-punk energy with a textured blend of electronic and acoustic sounds, creating a dynamic soundscape that races forward with driving guitars and relentless drums. Beneath its exhilarating surface lies a core of vulnerability, as the lyrics trace a narrative of longing that crashes into emotional indifference. It’s a cathartic anthem for those grappling with unreciprocated feelings, delivering both a rush and a release.

goneMUNE - 'PRAYER'

'PRAYER' plunges into the raw terrain of grief, inner turmoil, and self-reckoning, continuing the narrative arc set in goneMUNE’s previous single, 'AMNESIA.' Through their cyborg persona AVERDONIA, the track unravels layers of inherited pain, fractured memories, and the shattering of emotional detachment. As the lines between self and other blur, AVERDONIA discovers that the mysterious, bandaged figure they’ve been pursuing is a mirror of their own unresolved longing. With distorted vocals and visceral sonic textures, 'PRAYER' channels chaos into catharsis, offering an unflinching look at the wounds we carry—and the identities they shape.

Shye - 'All at once'

Shye’s latest single, 'All at once,' is a delicate yet devastating exploration of heartbreak’s quieter aftermath. Building on the emotional narrative of her previous release 'Waited for you,' this haunting indie-pop track trades longing for the lingering ache of acceptance. With ethereal production and the repeated refrain “Come back to me,” Shye captures the feeling of being trapped in emotional limbo—haunted by memories, paralysed by absence, and struggling to let go. It’s a song that speaks to the kind of grief that quietly consumes, offering a tender voice to those still caught in love’s echo long after it’s gone.

The Theatre Practice - 'Partial Eclipse Of The Heart'

The Theatre Practice’s Partial Eclipse Of The Heart is a heartfelt and humorous Mandarin jukebox musical that follows five friends who reunite every decade to watch an eclipse from their old seaside chalet. Spanning 30 years, the show explores love, ambition, and friendship through life’s twists and turns, set to iconic Singaporean Mandopop hits by artists like JJ Lin, Tanya Chua, and Stefanie Sun. Directed by Kuo Jian Hong and based on the final script by the late Jonathan Lim, this 60th anniversary production features a stellar cast including Joanna Dong, Derrick Hoh, Jean Seizure, Ric Liu, and Chriz Tong. It’s a tender tribute to growing up, holding on, and the songs that shape our lives.

Pat Machima - 'Temasek Hiphop : Bangkit Mixtape Volume 1'

A historic moment in Singapore’s hip-hop scene unfolded with the release of 'Bangkit Mixtape Volume 1' — a groundbreaking mixtape featuring 22 Malay rappers, officially submitted to the Singapore Book of Records for “Most Malay Rappers Featured in a Single Mixtape.” The project brought together a diverse lineup of artists across generations, including rising talents like Arissa Zara and Lee Rocka, a Chinese rapper who delivered his verses entirely in Malay. Spearheaded by Amyr Abadawn, Pat Machima, and Sang Chita, the track was the result of months of coordination and collaboration. Recorded at Exuism Record and supported by Magix Mpire Studio and Koolfellerz Group, the music video was shot at Blackbook Studio and Arab Street.
