Hear65's music video guide (October 2025) — ABANGSAPAU, ALYPH, Heema Izzati, Mark Lee, JJ Lin & more

When it comes to music, music videos are important supplements to what we can hear as they stimulate our visual senses in a way that sound cannot.

From creative homemade projects to cinematic works that beg to be seen on a big screen, all forms of music videos are released by Singapore's talented musicians seeking to extend the stories told in their songs every month. In this monthly series, we will be rounding up the latest releases from our sunny island that might fly under the radar.

ABANGSAPAU ft. ALYPH – ‘Boom Bada Bada’

ABANGSAPAU and ALYPH deliver heart and humour in the Boom Bada Bada’ music video — a soulful R&B cut brought to life in the most unexpected setting: a bingo night at Yishun Community Centre. Performing as entertainment for a room full of elderly folks, ABANGSAPAU starts out facing a skeptical crowd before slowly winning them over. The scene cleverly mirrors the song’s theme of vulnerability — about love, infatuation, and the awkwardness of putting your feelings into words. For ABANGSAPAU, collaborating with ALYPH was a “dream come true,” blending his introspective flow with ALYPH’s smooth, emotive touch to create a track that radiates warmth both sonically and visually.

Heema Izzati – ‘Whispers’

In Whispers’, rising singer-songwriter Heema Izzati opens up about the quiet battles of anxiety — particularly the fear of how others perceive you — and how love can become a safe space amid the noise. The music video, directed by minusoutvisuals, translates that inner storm into whimsical intimacy. Set against cozy domestic moments, it follows Heema as she finds solace in her boyfriend’s companionship. “I wrote this little cutesy love song about finding peace and calm with a special someone,” she shares. The result is a heartwarming reminder that sometimes, all it takes to silence the noise is someone who truly listens.

Mark Lee – ‘My Journey’

Veteran entertainer Mark Lee marks his 57th birthday with ‘My Journey’, his first Hokkien release in over two decades. The heartfelt music video, filmed in Malaysia, captures Lee’s reflections on resilience and family — a touching return to his musical roots that bridges humour, nostalgia, and pride in his cultural heritage.

JJ Lin – ‘明日座標 (Atlas of Tomorrow)’

Global Mandopop star JJ Lin unveils an epic, cinematic visual for ‘明日座標 (Atlas of Tomorrow)’, created as the official anthem for Honor of Kings’ 10th anniversary. The video blends futuristic imagery with live performance flair, following JJ through as he delivers an anthem about courage, legacy, and unity across time.

Kael Aries feat. Mus Kersani & Nadx - 'Kita Lawan'

Genre-bending powerhouse Kael Aries is living out a long-time dream with the release of ‘Kita Lawan’, a fiery new single that teams him up with his close friend Mus of legendary band Kersani. The track also features vocalist Nadx, adding emotional depth to the punk rock meets metal anthem. Produced and composed by Amyr Abadawn of Exuism Records, the song delivers a raw yet resonant message of defiance and resilience. Co-written by Kael and Mus, the lyrics channel rebellion, unity, and hope—making ‘Kita Lawan’ a bold sonic statement that echoes the spirit of revolution and the strength of the people.

The Island Voices - 'Understand'

The Island Voices (TIV) marks a major milestone with Understand’, their first original release. A year in the making, the song celebrates empowerment, identity, and liberation, encouraging listeners to embrace who they are without fear. The music video, filmed across Singapore, Hong Kong, Osaka, and Okinawa, features the collective’s vocalists as they sing in vibrant locations around the world. Written by Mcquin Yip, Elsa Mickayla, and RHAUN, and directed by Ryan Tang, Understand’ radiates joy, colour, and unity.
