June 2017
Wormrot performs at Glastonbury

Singapore's premier grindcore band made history in 2017, when it was announced that the three-piece would be performing at the historic Glastonbury Festival, making them the first ever local band to play at the world-famous event.

The band were featured on BBC, and they gave a glimpse of the power of grindcore to viewers both international and local. Our guide to the genre will also help you with that.


August to October 2017
Joanna Dong + more Singaporeans compete in Sing! China

In 2017, Sing! China, the Chinese equivalent of The Voice saw not one, but FOUR Singaporean contestants make it past the blind auditions. Contestants Olinda Cho, Stella Seah, Curley Gao and Joanna Dong represented Singapore in the singing competition, with Olinda Cho and Joanna Dong doing battle out for a spot in the finals. Ultimately, Dong placed third in the finals.

Jasmine Sokko's 600D breaks 1 million streams in 3 months

2017 was undoubtedly the year of Jasmine Sokko who released her Nº EP to rave reviews, performed at Ultra Singapore 2017 and even opened for when she performed her in November. However, it's the success of her track, 600D that's really caught our attention. Sokko has garnered over a million streams on Spotify in 3 short months, proving just how much of a household name she's becoming in the local music scene.

Sandra Tang Co-hosts/performs duet with Michael Bolton

The Sam Willows' Sandra Riley Tang had a huge 2017, from performing in Japan at Summer Sonic on the same bill as Foo Fighters, to co-hosting a talent show with the legendary Michael Bolton. But that's not all, during his show here on the 15th of November, she performed as his special guest AND sang a duet with the man himself. 


December 2017
Eatmepoptart celebrates their 12th anniversary

In December of 2017, eatmepoptart turned 12 and what better way is there to celebrate that monumental accomplishment than with a huge bash? The collective filled out the Esplanade Annexe Studio for a night of good vibes and nostalgia, as they curated an amazing line-up that saw Sobs, Supersect, Zhan, Tom Shellsuit, Thievves and eatmepoptart themselves perform to an adoring crowd.
