Sambal Snake

Singaporean hip hop artist Sambal Snake makes a striking return to the music scene with his latest single, 'Higher Quality’. Made in collaboration with renown local producer, Fauxe, the track features an intricate, South-east Asian flavoured hip hop beat that seamlessly integrates the resonant gong of an Indonesian gamelan alongside Indian chants. Quick to herald his return with ‘a heater’, the track showcases Sambal Snake’s rapid-fire delivery of Singaporean English bars over a dynamic, catchy flow that almost seems to dance on the beat. The track features Sambal Snake’s tongue in cheek humour, with statements that he is still able to go ‘the hardest’ on the mic without having consumed ‘Cialis’. In true Sambal Snake fashion, the track is also filled with numerous local references, from the door-closing alarm of Singapore’s public railway trains punctuating each chorus, to a warning to alert the ‘SCDF’, Singapore’s firefighting unit, in the event that flames are produced during his rap freestyle on popular Malaysian rap cypher show, 16 Baris.
