20-member rap collective Braggadocious asserts brown pride on debut single 'Brown Boys Brag' — listen

Introducing Braggadocious, a new local rap collective who just dropped their debut single 'Brown Boys Brag'.

On the new hip-hop track, the 20-member group celebrates communal identity by combining cultural pride and tongue-in-cheek humour. Produced by Amud and co-produced by Anirvin and Faseeh, the song features a recurring brass motif and foot-stomping drums channelling the spirits of the Rocky Theme.

The members range from experienced musicians like Eli Ordonez of Count Vernon to complete newbies to the rap game, but nonetheless they each channel individuality into their own verse. The recording for the track was mostly done over two nights, as the members live together in NUS's Tembusu College.

Braggadocious will return later this year with a follow-up project ‘Cheers to the Tree’, which combines 80s retro soundscapes with Y2K R&B-pop grooves. It will feature many of the talents from 'Brown Boys Brag' as well as several new faces. Stay tuned.
