Flying Away is a reflection on the loss of childhood confidence as I navigate the transition from girlhood to adulthood. I find myself yearning for the carefree spirit of my younger self—bold and unafraid to share her true self without a worry. In the second verse, I had a dialogue with little me, who reminded me that like the spring flowers, I will eventually bloom in my own time. Just because I haven’t blossomed yet doesn’t mean I’m not meant to. The song is a celebration of reclaiming that lost spark. I’ve chosen to arrange this song in a bossa nova style—a rhythm I adore swaying to. Even though I sometimes feel like I’m flying away, I will always choose to stay and embrace the rhythms of life. My younger self would reassure me that I’ll be okay, and as I navigate the tension between wanting to escape and the desire to stay grounded, I know that little me would be proud of who I’m becoming.
