A surprise thank-you gift to the fans who sing the original song at the top of their lungs at every show we play, the track delivers a wistful, ethereal reimagining of our fan-favourite sophomore single, blending lush, cinematic and atmospheric production with our signature hard-hitting metal elements. Uncharacteristically tender and vulnerable vocals from Russell, our usually-harsh vocalist, ripple through the track, lying atop a bed of reverb-drenched pianos, glimmering guitars and emotive string sections, featuring violin parts written and performed by friend Chervelle, who also created the track’s cover art. A “slow burn” of a song, the mellow production finally crescendos with an explosive final chorus that features refreshed and remastered instrumentation of familiar riffs, culminating in a bone-crushing breakdown reminiscent of modern thall acts such as Humanity’s Last Breath and Mirar. A change in lyrics from the original also reflects a renewed perspective and allows for a poignant final moment that provides closure to the story of heartbreak that the song tells. The track also marks our guitarist Ethan’s final contribution to the band in the form of a soaring, complex and emotional guitar solo. An ode to our roots, a thank-you to everyone who’s showed us love in our young career, and a teaser of what’s to come sonically, Heartworm (Reimagined) promises a rich and immersive palette of sound that has its own place within the oeuvre of Singaporean heavy music.
