Ding Yi Music Company has unveiled its 2025/26 season, promising a bold fusion of tradition and innovation. With Singapore’s 60th anniversary as a backdrop, the ensemble will feature Cultural Medallion and Young Artist Award recipients in every concert, celebrating local artistry at its finest.
A major highlight is the final installment of the Disappearing series, spotlighting vanishing crafts like lion dance head-making, rattan weaving, and songkok-making. This immersive concert blends Chinese chamber music with the stories of artisans, accompanied by multimedia presentations.
The groundbreaking ECOncert returns, merging music with environmental consciousness. Featuring works by Biennale artist Robert Zhao Renhui and composer Yii Kah Hoe, the concert will showcase instruments crafted from sustainable materials.
The season opens on 14 March with Traversing, featuring acclaimed violinist William Wei performing on a rare 1722 Stradivari violin. Other standout productions include Earth: Unheard, a showcase of intimate chamber works, and The Symphony of the Five Greats, a theatrical retelling of The Legend of the Condor Heroes through music.
Ding Yi is also expanding its global footprint, becoming the Resident Ensemble of the Thailand International Composition Festival and increasing its presence on digital platforms like Spotify. With a season that intertwines musical storytelling, cultural heritage, and contemporary artistry, Ding Yi continues to push the boundaries of Chinese chamber music.
