Pop princess Regina Song relates a tumultuous ‘Fairy’ tale on her newest single — listen

Singapore’s pop princess Regina Song is entering her new era - with her newest single ‘Fairy’, marking her first new release since her successful sold-out Southeast Asia tour earlier this year.

‘Fairy’ is also the first single that will be included in Regina’s upcoming second album, which is expected to be released in late 2025.

Regina describes ‘Fairy’ as a spiritual successor to her popular song ‘the cutest pair’, as the song was written in a difficult period of her life where she was feeling mixed emotions from the thrill of the success of the ‘the cutest pair’ and simultaneously the pain of experiencing her first real heartbreak.

“During that period, I had to watch my first love move on and see someone new, turning into someone I couldn’t recognise. The concoction of frustration, disappointment and anger, ultimately transforming into concern, drove me to write this song in one night,” shared Regina.

“Watching someone you care for deeply move on unexpectedly can be confusing and complex. I hope that ‘Fairy’ can offer solace to my listeners who are experiencing similar turmoil, while processing their emotions at the same time. Hopefully, they will also be screaming along to this song with me at my next live show!”

Through the coming-of-age message that ‘Fairy’ conveys, Regina Song also teases the tonality of her new era as she moves on from the "fangirl” in her.

“In my debut album fangirl, I wrote a lot about falling in love from afar. My sophomore album will be centred around being in love, where the "fangirl" in me enters a relationship for the first time, experiencing doubt and heartbreak. Through these new songs, I definitely want to show a more mature and introspective side of myself, taking power back from being a hopeless romantic.”
