Voices Of Singapore Men's choir shines at Malaysian Choral Eisteddfod 2024

In a landmark achievement, Voices Of Singapore (VOS) Men's choir triumphed at the Malaysian Choral Eisteddfod (MCE) 2024, held in Kuala Lumpur from 6-10 November. The ensemble, led by conductor Justin Goh, earned two prestigious Gold awards and emerged as the top winner in the Equal Voices - Tenor Bass category, spotlighting them among Asia’s best choirs.

Formed in 2022, VOS Men competed in both the Equal Voices and Vocal Ensemble categories, earning impressive scores of 86.33 and 84.07 points. The choir’s standout performances included ‘Good Night, Dear Heart’ by Dan Forrest and the traditional Singaporean folk song ‘Dayung Sampan,’ arranged by VOS Artistic Director Dr. Darius Lim, which resonated as a tribute to Singapore’s musical heritage.

For this young ensemble, the success is more than just awards. Amir Mirza, President of VOS Men, shared, “This experience was about our growth as singers and fostering a community that elevates male choral music in Singapore.”
