Went Wrong

Regina Toh

Release Date:2025-06-12

The song deals with not just heartbreak but how terrifying one feels when one is falling in love and knowing that they will get hurt when they know that they cannot have the person. While it is one thing to have a slow ballad that goes into these feelings, I made it an energetic and beat heavy tune to really delve into how emotionally gripping it is to battle with the complications of being hardened yet knowingly susceptible to falling and falling hard for someone, especially if it is falling on your face on the hard concrete. It is my intention that the strong beat, high energy, emotional vocals and charged lyrics can adequately bring across the powerful emotion of vulnerability and desperation. The vocals fluctuate between mix and head voice to intentionally illustrate how one may feel conflicted and not emotionally stable with these feelings they might have. The lyrics contain metaphors and similes to illustrate just how one tends to overthink and ruminate on about this person and their relationship that it becomes a confused jumble that may or may not make sense. I think that with the rise of breaking down gendered expectations, internal esteem issues and phenomenons like situationships, this song will resonate with how there is this wider game being played in our interpersonal romantic relationships and how tense and trying it must feel when you are part of it.
