Many would think of snow when they hear the song, but one quote from Bing Crosby (the singer who popularised the song) sums up my interpretation of the song: "Unless we make Christmas an occasion to share our blessings, all the snow in Alaska won't make it 'white'". I found this is so true -- with what the world is going through currently, there are so many hit by the pandemic and recent disasters. It is up to us to be blessings to others this Christmas onwards. This is my chill-but-rhythmical take on the well-loved Christmas carol, incorporating clave (Afro-Cuban) rhythm and jazz improvisation. It has been a sombre period of 2 pandemic years, so with this uplifting version, I would like to celebrate the joyous season. It is a fun project - hope you enjoy the arrangement! :)
