Singaporean dream pop quartet Blush are stepping into a bold new chapter. The band have announced their signing to Brooklyn indie label Kanine Records (home of Grizzly Bear, Chairlift, Surfer Blood), alongside the release of their latest single and video, ‘X My Heart’.
Taken from their upcoming album Beauty Fades, Pain Lasts Forever—set for release on 1 August—‘X My Heart’ is a shimmering slice of melancholy-laced pop, wrapped in glistening guitars and bittersweet lines like “cross my heart and I hope to die in this sick sad world that’s never mine.”
The accompanying visual directed by Goh Koon How delivers a dreamy descent from soft-focused longing into romantic obsession—an artful nod to the song’s twisted sweetness.
Beauty Fades, Pain Lasts Forever follows 2023’s Supercrush and features a refreshed Blush lineup: founding members Soffi Peters (vocals) and Daniel Pei (bass) are now joined by Darell Laser (Forests) on guitar, with longtime collaborator Jared Lim (Sobs) returning on production and guitars. Their combined pedigree—spanning Singapore’s emo and indie pop scenes—can be heard across the album’s ten tracks, from candy-coated melodies to cathartic walls of feedback.
This record also marks the band’s heaviest and most hook-filled material to date, culminating in closer ‘Swallowing 999999 Needles’, where Laser’s raw screams burst through a storm of noise.
Blush will support the release with an American tour this August, marking their debut in the U.S. East Coast. Chicago shoegazers sunshy will join them for all shows, with South Korean dream pop artist Precocious Neophyte appearing on West Coast dates. Tickets are available here.
