Stefanie Sun, also known as Sun Yanzi, delivered a once-in-a-lifetime performance on 13 June, marking her first-ever concert at Beijing’s National Stadium—better known as the Bird’s Nest. The monumental show, part of her After Sunset world tour, drew a crowd of 50,000 fans, with nearly two million ticket registrants, making it the most attended stop of the tour so far.
The concert was structured around five emotional chapters—Beauty, Unknown, Dream, Life, and People—brought to life through an expansive, immersive stage design crafted with longtime music director Kenn C. Sun was hands-on throughout, from arrangements to visuals, turning the vast stadium into an intimate vessel for emotion and connection.
As the show began, the stadium’s big screen displayed the exact Beijing sunset time, allowing the crowd to share the twilight moment before Sun emerged under fireworks in a stunning white gown to open with ‘我要的幸福’. The sunset theme flowed throughout the evening, echoing the spirit of After Sunset.
Sun surprised fans with a bold new look: short hair dyed “sunset pink-orange,” and a series of vibrant outfits—from silver gowns to floral dresses—that matched the show’s dreamy aesthetic. The setlist featured fan favourites, but it was the crowd-sung rendition of ‘開始懂了’ and the exclusive Beijing performance of ‘銀泰’ that sparked some of the most emotional moments of the night.
Celebrating 25 years in music, Stefanie Sun reflected on her journey with heartfelt gratitude. “25 years went by in a flash,” she told the crowd. “People come and go—but you’re all still here.” With this show, she became the fourth Mandarin pop female artist to headline the Bird’s Nest—a milestone achievement.
Fellow artists like JJ Lin, Mayday, and Hua Chenyu sent messages and floral tributes, while fans filled the stadium with lightsticks and love, making the night feel both epic and intimate. With more dates ahead, the After Sunset tour is far from over. But this Beijing stop has already secured its place as one of Stefanie Sun’s most iconic and unforgettable performances yet.
