Set to be released on 21 June, the R&B ballad, ‘MEANT TO BE’, incorporates a blend of Afrobeat influences.
Inspired by Doris Day’s classic ‘Que Sera, Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be’, ‘MEANT TO BE’ offers a sense of closure to the artists’ respective relationships, allowing them to move forward with hope for the future.
“This song feels like you’re out in the city in the middle of the night after getting your heart crushed by the person you love. I wanted to emulate that cold & lonely feeling in the song which I hope listeners could relate to,” lamin explained.
Dominic added, “We all connected with our own stories of feeling regretful about some things, and we wanted to remind ourselves that what we have in the present is truly all we have. The past is the past. What is meant to be, will be.”

The song also marks Dominic’s first collaboration with local singer-songwriter Oatmylk, a friend of his for a long time. In an Instagram post, he mentioned that both he and lamin were collectively “blown away” by Oatmylk’s vocals.
‘MEANT TO BE’ is the third single on Dominic and lamin’s joint album which is scheduled for release in October this year.
Earlier this year, the duo teased their upcoming album with their second collaborative track, ‘STAY WITH ME’.
