Slated for release on 14 June, fangirl will include fan favourites such as ‘high school boy’, ‘venus’ and ‘love…at first sight?’ alongside new tracks such as ‘the cutest pair’ which she performed at TRIFECTA Backyard Sessions last month.
sleepyheads (fans of Regina Song) can look forward to a sonically diverse experience as the album reflects Regina’s vulnerable and raw yet deeply relatable experiences with unrequited love.
The album will feature a mix of styles, from groovy bossa nova and dreamy soundscapes to angsty punk rock anthems and heartfelt ballads such as ‘leftover feelings’, showcasing her versatile talent.
In an interview with Hear65, Regina shared that she used a strawberry as a symbol for the album, likening it to a fangirl’s vulnerability: “Similar to strawberries, a fangirl is easily bruised,” she explained.
Regina’s album, coupled with her honeyed vocals, will offer a comforting embrace to her listeners, reminding them that these experiences are only human.
“I dropped singles from March 2023 to June 2024 this year so it has been a really long journey and I hope this album can also show my growth as an artist. I hope that the different productions for each song can really bring out that specific emotion that every fangirl can feel, whether they are happy and pining over someone or heartbroken by their crush because they rejected them,” Regina expressed when speaking to Hear65.
