This holiday season, commuters can tune in to Christmas tracks by local musicians while traveling around Singapore!
Hear65 and the National Arts Council (NAC) has rolled out a special Christmas playlist as part of its I Play SG Music campaign. The selection features 10 fabulously festive tracks from homegrown artists such as Jonan, Roe Curie, Stephanie Phang, Serene Choo, Robert Tan, Miss Lou, Jack and Rai, Haneri, Northwoods, NyaLi, John Klass, Poh Chin, inch and Shirley Ho.
I Play SG Music spotlights locally produced music at 134 MRT and LRT stations and bus interchanges across the island, as part of a broader partnership between the NAC and transportation service provider SMRT.
Consisting of winsome originals and renditions of familiar Yuletide tunes - commuters can perk their ears for their favourite tracks while getting to know local names. Highlights includes songs such as 'Santa in Singapore', 'Christmas is a Person', 'Peace, Love & Mistletoe', 'First Snow' and more!
During an interview with Hear65 earlier this year, John Klass revealed the creative process behind his Christmas song: "Growing up, I loved Wham!'s timeless hit, 'Last Christmas'! It’s a pure pop gem that captures the essence of the holiday season. That’s exactly how I envisioned my own Christmas song to be. I wanted to pay homage to the spirit of 'Last Christmas' while deliberately infusing it with a nostalgic touch. The result is a festive tune that takes me back to memories of my Christmases growing up, while keeping the current Christmas vibes of today alive!"
The I Play SG Music Christmas playlist will run from 11 December to 31 December.
