Following up from her exciting single-slash-fragrance launch for 'Perfume', shazza has dropped her latest single ‘MIDNIGHT’ today. The second single off her upcoming sophomore album, ‘MIDNIGHT’ is also shazza’s first collaborative release of 2025, teaming up two of her dearest friends and collaborators – singer-songwriter teem and soulful crooner Umar Sirhan.
‘MIDNIGHT’ brings a new sonic flavour to shazza’s upcoming sophomore album, as well as to her discography as a whole. Melding anthemic alt-pop with warm, expressive guitar work and introspective lyricism, the anthemic soundscape brings together hazy late-night melancholia and soaring, arena-ready hooks.
The highly personal and heartfelt sound of the track is all but par for the course with the emotions captured—the feeling of lying awake in the middle of the night, aching in vain for something one can no longer have. It hits home particularly to listeners going through bitter moments, where change is terrifying and coping is done in less than healthy ways. Brimming in nostalgia and pure longing, ‘MIDNIGHT’ is one for the tried and true yearners at heart.
The visualiser for the song will be released on shazza’s YouTube channel on Wednesday, 5 March. It's set to feature the three young vocalists in different facades of everyday life, drenched in the melancholy of heartbreak. The video sees them reflecting the emotional turmoil and yearning for a love that will never come back as they transit through life.
