The 2024 edition of the prestigious Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod took place in Wales from July 2 to July 7.
The historic, 77-year-old festival is a multicultural celebration where an estimated 4,000 participants and 35,000 visitors converge upon Llangollen in the name of international peace and friendship to sing and dance in various competitions and performances.
Notably, The Voices of Singapore Children's Choir (VOSCC) took part in its esteemed choir competition under the Senior Children's Choirs category, where they clinched 2nd place!
Under the guidance of Artistic Director, Dr. Darius Lim, VOSCC performed two pieces for the competition - 'Ave Maria and Children of Light' - which secured them a high score of 93 and lavish praise. The judges complimented VOSCC for their "very fine singing," noting that the "drama and energy" culminated in a "very excellent performance." Not bad, for a young choir at their very first competition.

The Senior Children's Choirs category featured some of the best choirs in the world. First place went to the Piedmont East Bay Children’s Choir from the United States, while the Czech Republic’s Kejatān was awarded 3rd place.
This achievement caps off a fantastic UK tour for VOSCC, which began with a solo concert at London’s Sinfonia Smith Square, featuring Vox Urbane - and was followed by enriching choir exchanges, combined performances, and masterclasses with Barnsley Youth Choir and their artistic director Mathew Wright.
