2025 is poised to be a another big year for yeule. Last month, the avant-garde art-pop artist dropped a stunning music video for 'Skullcrusher', the first single from her forthcoming album Evangelic Girl is a Gun. The LP is slated to drop on 30 May via Ninja Tune.
Most recently, yeule has shared yet another gorgeous music video, this time for the album's title track, 'Evangelic Girl is a Gun'. Produced by the renowned Kin Leonn, the cut presents us with a post-modern take on trip-hop and gothic industrial, with touch of Crystal Castles thrown in for good measure.
yeule shares, "An angelic blade of a dance beat with dual BPM switch ups, nostalgic synth patches Kin [Leonn] and I alchemised together reminiscent of early 2010s electronica. In the light of love and obsession lies the silhouette of a shadow diluted with the playful flirting of synths and drum patterns, but this time with a sexy silhouette of a shadow. Going back to experimental dark techno, but aligning it with modern inclinations of what I want to label as "trip club". Eternal light, eternal love, depth of the heart with a shallow facade. Diluting the vanta black blood that boils on rotting flesh."
The song also comes with a beautifully evocative music video co-directed by Nat Ćmiel and frequent collaborator Neil Krug.
yeule's upcoming album appears to be her aesthetically defined work thus far, as evidenced by the accompanying still visual artworks made in collaboration with artist Vasso Vu. Sonically, Evangelic Girl is a Gun is also set to feature producers such as A.G. Cook, Chris Greatti, Mura Masa, Clams Casino and FITNESSS, alongside the aforementioned Kin Leonn.
