The concert is happening in conjunction with the orchestra’s 15th anniversary celebrations, themed “Together with You”. Ding Yi’s Assistant Conductor Wong De Li, Deric will be conducting Happy Chinese New Year Concert 2022, alongside a special appearance from homegrown singer-songwriter Derrick Hoh, marking his debut performance with a chamber ensemble.

In addition, it will also feature a specially commissioned piece titled ‘Year of the Tiger’ by Hong Kong composer Alfred Wong, which will be performed by Ding Yi percussionists Cheong Kah Yiong as well as Low Yik Hang. Singaporean composer Terrence Wong also has a commissioned piece that will be played, ‘Light at Tunnel’s End’; which aims to remind audiences “find hope and light even amidst tough times and darkness.”

The celebrated local composer Law Wai Lun will also be rearranging medleys of famous Chinese New Year songs, such as ‘Arrival of God of Fortune’, ‘Spring Blossoms’, and ‘Gong Xi Gong Xi’.

Tickets are priced at $28, and are available for purchase here.
