Singer-songwriter Michelle SgP is set to present a classical performance, joined by an all-female ensemble made up of 8 string players from Vocalise Strings, as well as an acoustic jazz-trio from She Shines SG at The Arts House on the 15th of January.
The concert is set to revolve around dealing with struggles, chasing dreams, entering parenthood, and the ups and downs of a relationship all through a Singaporean perspective.
Supported by National Arts Council’s (NAC) Self-Employed Person Grant (SEPG), Michelle expresses her excitement in a press release statement: “The NAC SEPG grant has made this collaboration dream come true, by rounding up of talents within several groups within the music industry - the classical music sector, singer-songwriter, crossover pop stringed rangers, jazz musicians, for music making with an inspiring message, while also elevating women in this season.”
Aiming to bring classical music to a wider audience, Music Director of Vocalise Strings and Macpherson Philharmonic Orchestra, Lester Kong says: “We believe in keeping an open mind for classical music, that music transcends genres, and are excited to collaborate with a singer-songwriter as Michelle for this project. As conductor of an orchestra, the Covid situation presented its challenges, so we brainstormed about presenting an all women's 8 person strings team from Vocalise Strings, and look forward to present you these specially written arrangements”.
Tickets are priced at $30, $40, as well as $48, and are available for purchase here.
