NCT’s Doyoung melts hearts with surprise cover of Regina Song's 'the cutest pair' at Singapore concert

Last night, NCT’s Doyoung surprised his Singaporean fans with a live cover of Regina Song’s breakout hit ‘the cutest pair’ during his sold-out solo concert at The Star Theatre.

Originally gaining traction on TikTok, the track became a regional hit, topping Spotify’s Viral 50 in multiple Asian territories. Its success earned Regina a nomination for Best Asian Song at the MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN, and over two million monthly Spotify listeners. The song’s soft piano melody and candid lyrics about love and infatuation have turned it into a Gen-Z confession anthem.

Earlier this year, pop-rock group Boyce Avenue also released a cover of ‘the cutest pair’ ahead of their Singapore show, a testament to the song’s wide-reaching appeal. Regina later included the track in her EP fangirl, which explores themes of devotion, daydreams, and emotional vulnerability.

Doyoung’s heartfelt rendition added new depth to the already-beloved ballad. Singing in fluent English, he delivered each line with quiet emotion and grace, prompting cheers and swoons from the crowd. 

To top off the night, Doyoung left fans with a playful message, “Singapore NCTzens are so steady at singing leh! I had so much fun while performing heheh thank you sia!! I will make sure to come back again, confirm plus chop.”
