Singapore's Yang Yan to compete in K-pop idol survival show 'Starlight Boys'

23-year-old Yang Yan is set to be a contestant in an upcoming global survival show called Starlight Boys. The  Singaporean will 1 of 69 participants from all around the world competing for a spot in a new 9-member global K-pop idol group.

Yang, who is represented by NoonTalk Media and Insight Entertainment, has earned attention as a talented actor in Singapore through appearances in dramas such as Stranger In The Dark. He was recently nominated in the Most Popular Rising Star and Best Rising Star categories at Star Awards 2024.

The field for Starlight Boys features contestants from China, South Korea, Japan, Thailand, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Canada and America. Notable entrants include ex ATBO member Yang Dong-hwa, former Boys Planet contestant Lee Da-eul, season 3 veterans of Chinese idol programme Youth With You - Duan Xingxing, Sun Yinghao and Neil Liu – and Thai actor Pentor.

The show is hosted by popular South Korean actress Lee Sung-kyung, while contestants will be be mentored by famed K-pop artists like BIGBANG’s Daesung, actor Lee Seung-gi, choreographer Choi Young-jun, singer Kwon Eun-bi, STAYC’s Yoon, Pentagon’s Hui, The BoyzEric and rapper Hanhae.

Starlight Boys is slated to air on streaming service iQIYI International and South Korean network SBS sometime in October. Follow iQIYI for updates.
