Benjamin Kheng teams up with Filipino-Australian singer James Reid for new single 'Rock Bottom Blues' — listen

Benjamin Kheng has kicked off a new era with his latest single.

Released on 28 July, 'Rock Bottom Blues', a collaboration with Filipino-Australian singer, record producer, and actor James Reid, is the local singer-songwriter's first release of the year and the lead single from his forthcoming debut studio album, Gloomy Boogie

Slated to be launched sometime this year, the record will be divided into two parts and will explore the struggles that we face as part of the experience of being human.

Penned by Kheng and Reid alongside Olivia Knox and produced by Charlie Kurata (AKA Duumu) and Saint Kid, 'Rock Bottom Blues' has a fun and catchy sound that's juxtaposed with lyrics about the struggles of a broken individual.

“Hurt people hurt people, that’s just human nature. I’ve experienced love that didn’t deserve my hurt, and that’s kind of where ‘Rock Bottom Blues’ takes place — at the end of a love that left for a good reason," explained Kheng.

He continued: "It’s hard to be anything other than your worst self with someone when you’re already at rock bottom."

Unveiled on the day of the song's release, the music video for 'Rock Bottom Blues', helmed by Singapore-based production company Murk & Marrow Films' Barnabas Chua, is a visual feast anchored by Kheng's and Reid's impassioned performances.
