When it comes to entertaining with music and putting her own original spin on current chart-topping songs, nobody does it like Boon Hui Lu.
The Singaporean Mandopop singer-songwriter continuously stuns the TikTok community by covering songs from different artists that span various genres and languages. Besides being an active creator on the social media platform, her Mandarin-translated content, in particular, sets her apart from your normal, run-of-the-mill covers.
Just this month, the 'Reset' act took to her social media channels to share covers of American singer-songwriter SZA's 'Kill Bill' and K-pop girl group NewJeans' 'OMG' — both critically acclaimed singles that have made it to the Top 10 of the Billboard Global 200 music chart.
Since being uploaded on 8 January, the former has amassed over 613,000 views on TikTok and received more than 119,000 likes. Viewers have also praised the 29-year-old for her "beautiful" translation of the song's lyrics and even asked for a full version of the cover.

Released on 20 January, the latter — in which the vocalist delivers a Mandarin interpretation of the original track's Korean lyrics — has also been positively received.
"Tried translating another #omg by #newjeans into a Chinese song because CNY is starting gong xi fa cai everybardy," she wrote.

Aside from being known for her covers of popular tunes such as Namewee and Wang Leehom's 'Stranger in the North', Hui Lu — who is signed to Taiwan-based label HIM International Music — has also gained attention for her repertoire of original material, which includes the studio albums Honestly Me 亲爱的你_怎样的我 and Reset.
