Set to premiere at the Victoria Theatre on 19 April, Secondary: The Musical centres around three Secondary 3 students trying to navigate the challenges of schooling life as well as a struggling young educator.
Presented by Checkpoint Theatre, the musical is described as one that uses both comedy and moving moments to depict the ups and downs of life in the Singapore education system.

Multi-disiplinary homegrown artist weish, an Associate Artist with Checkpoint Theatre, serves as Secondary: The Musical's playwright, composer, and musical director.
Aside from her work as part of the electronic duo .gif, she is also known for her contributing music to Sandi Tan's Netflix documentary Shirkers and teaming up with music, theatre, literary, and dance creatives.
"My past life as a literature teacher showed me an array of hard truths that deeply shook me. But this story is not birthed entirely from a place of cynicism; as much as my brush with bureaucracy left me weary, my memories of the classroom are filled with immense joy," shared weish in an Instagram post.

Secondary: The Musical features direction and dramaturgy from Checkpoint Theatre's co-founder and Joint Artistic Director Huzir Sulaiman.
It also includes a cast made up of Adeeb Fazah, Audrey Luo, Ethel Yap, Genevieve Tan, Joshua Lim, Krish Natarajan, Nadya Zaheer, Rebekah Sangeetha Dorai, Shahid Nasheer, Teoh Jun Vinh, Tiara Yap, and Tricia Tan.
