Old, new, and across all genres — this year's National Day theme song features a crop of homegrown artists across the board.
A collaboration between 53A, lewloh, Olivia Ong, ShiGGa Shay, Iman Fandi, Lineath, and The Island Voices, the song, titled 'Shine Your Light', was released together with its music video on 25 May.
Slated to make its live debut on 9 August, the song is composed by Don Richmond and written by Richmond and ShiGGa. With bright lyrics against an upbeat melody, the song mirrors Singapore's optimism in rising out of the Covid-19 pandemic.

This is the second time that 53A, which consists of Sara Wee, Bani Hidir, Helman Kamal, Amir Shazwan, and Elisabeth Natalia Haryono, will be performing a National Day theme song following 2016's 'Tomorrow's Here Today'. The Island Voices, which consists of local artists like Elsa Mickayla and Narysal among others, have also announced that they are the official choir for this year's National Day Parade celebration. The choir returns after featuring alongside Taufik Batisah in last year's song 'Stronger Together'.
On top of performing and writing the song, ShiGGa, whose real name is Pek Jin Shen, also led the video production efforts as the music video director. Apart from the song's performers, the video features a wide cast, which includes members of the Wheelchair Racing Association (Singapore), dancers from Redeafination, local artists Joakim Gomez, Fauzie Laily, and rapper Wheelsmith.
This year's National Day Parade will be held at the Padang. Singaporeans can also join in the celebrations across heartland locations such as Bedok Stadium, Jurong West Stadium, Toa Payoh Stadium, Woodlands Stadium, and Our Tampines Hub.
