Not Safe For TV (NSFTV) drops four-part music video series in celebration of 20 years of Baybeats

Video creator platform Not Safe For TV (NSFTV) has unveiled an all-new video series titled Add to Playlist.

The four-part video series is a celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Baybeats festival, delving into the significance of alternative music. A joint effort between NSFTV and Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay, the series features names from Singapore's music scene, including acts from this year's Baybeats lineup such as post-hardcore band Caracal, singer-songwriter lewloh, and alternative-rock quartet Sun Eater.

A paradox to the caustic and brazen qualities often associated with the punk genre, Add to Playlist is an insight into the alternative music scene, its musicians, and more. For instance, the episode Add to Playlist: A Voice delves into the life of former Caracal frontman KC Meals and his struggle with alcoholism.

Speaking about the episode, director Jon Chow said: "Many deep issues in our lives can potentially stem from unresolved matters with our parents. I wanted to explore that - what leads to redemption? What is the catalyst for change? What shift in one's identity has taken place?"

“All of us have a relationship with music, whether it’s the making of it, in its communion with friends, or as a formative expression of our identities," said Jeremy Ho, the series producer of Add to Playlist. "With this series, our team is sharing some of the local narratives we’ve uncovered. May you remember the music that has brought you to where you are."

The final episode of the series will be released on 4 November, coinciding with the first day of the Baybeats festival. A four-day hybrid event with live performances and livestreamed shows, this year's festival boasts a lineup that features both established and rising acts.
