Singaporean singer-songwriter Gentle Bones signs with Warner Music Asia

Gentle Bones is now part of the Warner Music Asia family.

On 1 February, it was announced that Gentle Bones, whose real name is Joel Tan, is now signed under the regional label Warner Music Asia.

The 28-year-old singer-songwriter said:  “I’m extremely excited to be working with the Warner Music Asia team. It’s an honour to be a part of their roster and being able to work with these prominent industry professionals. We're putting together releases that encompass a strong regional vision and I am thrilled to bring this to fruition in the next couple of years with them.”

Boasting more than a decade of experience in the music entertainment industry, the 'dear me,' act's career has seen him releasing chart-topping singles like 'Until We Die', 'Save Me', and 'Elusive' and exciting collaborations with renowned stars JJ Lin, Karencici, and Julia Wu.

Notably, 'At Least I Had You', his collaborative single with Singaporean superstar JJ Lin has garnered almost 5 million streams on Spotify.

Apart from having an irrefutable presence in the music scene, he has also made waves in the industry as the first Singaporean to be listed on the Forbes 30-Under-30 list in 2016.

Gentle Bones' upcoming four-track EP, his debut music release under Warner Music Asia is in the works and slated for the third quarter of 2023. The EP's first single 'The Right Words' will be pre-released on 10 February.

On his forthcoming single and what's next, Gentle Bones shared: “As an artist, keeping the awareness that we are to serve the audience can be tricky sometimes as we understand that words can be perceived very differently. I've been releasing a slew of positive music for a couple of years, and I've reached the point where I feel continuing to do so only dilutes the beauty in the messages of my previous songs. Which then begins the inspiration for 'The Right Words', with a lyric in the pre-chorus, ‘lose my authenticity, when I try to speak."

Despite the artist's announcement that he was retiring the 'Gentle Bones' project last year, he is now entering a new era of music and will be working with Warner Music Asia to embark on a new journey and grow his presence and fan base outside of Singapore.

Chris Gobalakrishna, Co-President of Warner Music Asia, said: “We are delighted to announce that Joel will be joining the Warner Music family. We feel grateful that he’s entrusted us to build upon his career. With our creative expertise and global marketing network, we look forward to introducing his music to audiences from around the globe, helping him reach new fans worldwide.”
