If you are planning to visit a movie theatre this September, be sure to listen out for a familiar voice.
On 15 August, Warner Bros. Pictures announced that local singer-songwriter Ben Hum (范平庚) will feature on the soundtrack of its upcoming animated film, DC League of Super-Pets.
Based on characters from DC Comics, the film follows Superman's canine companion, Krypto (voiced by Dwayne Johnson), as he assembles a team to save a captured Justice League.
Ben's contribution to the film's soundtrack comes in the form of a special version of the song 'Count on Me', which will play exclusively in local theatres during a sequence about Ace the Hound's (voiced by Kevin Hart) backstory.
"Being a huge fan of DC films and cartoons since young, I’ve always aspired to make a positive impact on as many people as possible. Now that I am a singer, being able to spread positivity with my voice feels like having a superpower," shared the vocalist, who is the first Singaporean artist that Warner Bros. has teamed up with for a film theme song.
He continued: "I’m super excited to be part of DC League of Super-Pets. This allows me to play my part as a superhero, unwaveringly inspiring the next generation of artists whilst spreading even more joy and happiness to everyone around!”
DC League of Super-Pets, which also features the voices of John Krasinski, Kate McKinnon, Diego Luna, and Keanu Reeves, will open in Singapore on 1 September 2022.
