Singapore Night Festival to return for its 13th edition this August, here’s what you can expect

The Singapore Night Festival has just revealed its slew of 55 must-go programmes that spotlight local artists, from 19 to 27 August 2022.

With the theme for the 13th edition of the festival being ‘Rebirth’, the festival’s art will focus on re-experiencing the Bras Basah and Bugis precinct’s cultural heritage and the stories that make up its core, while spotlighting local artists. Music lovers are in for a treat, with a long list of exciting events.

Jazz’in @ Capitol Singapore will host the smoothest jazz tunes from home-grown artists like Amanda Lee Swingtet and The Rhythmakers while After Dark @ Dhoby Ghaut Green will be home to the rising stars of Singapore music such as Hashy Yusof, Marian Carmel, Gareth Fernandez

Meanwhile, Armenian Street Party will be graced by the likes of A Capella Society, SMU Voix, Cosmic Alley, OM The Arts Centre, and Traditional Arts Centre while Groovy Town @ SMU and SOTA’s Pop/Jazz Band + Pocket Pugs will feature a wide array of young student musicians.

Festival-goers can also look forward to Yesterday Once More: Queen Street by Inch Chua & Tim De Cotta — an astounding theatre and dance performance, accompanied by music from the two musical geniuses, Singapore Rhapsodies — a fusion of sounds of our diverse heritages into moving music by SwaRhythm Ensemble, and Cityscapes of Yesteryear, which will feature the M’Ode Wind Quintet, who are renowned for their unmistakably fresh and innovative sound.

For the curious, The Ark Music Live Session will be a workshop in which one can learn how the live performances at Stamford Arts Centre have transitioned into the virtual world. Additionally, The A Capella Society will be offering a sampler class in all things about contemporary harmony singing.
