The Ann & Ben Show's '这个那个 (The Caifan Song)' tops the charts on YES 933

On the 2nd of November, Annette Lee and Benjamin Kheng shared that their bilingual mandopop track 这个那个 (The Caifan Song), an 'almost' love letter to "Cai Fan aunties and uncles", topped the charts of local radio station YES 933’s ‘PICKS OF THE POPS’.

The duo wrote in an Instagram post saying: “dedicating this to all our 华文老师’s and our beloved Cai Fan uncles and aunties,” in homage of their Mandarin language teachers and stall vendors.

Lee and Kheng, who are both highly active on TikTok and often create skits, debuted just in August to much fanfare. Most recently, the duo debuted their four-part episode series under the name ‘The Ann & Ben Show’ where they exert their comedic, performing, and singing prowess, throwing jabs at the pain and pleasures of localised stereotypes.

The Ann & Ben Show features three other tracks in K-DRAMADDICTION, Dai Shi Teng (The Caning Song) and I Want My Bubble Tea, the third marking the conclusion of the series, with its music video featuring Singaporean indie-rock band M1LDL1FE.

The duo played all of the songs featured on the show live on the 20th of August at Esplanade’s Outdoor Theatre as part of Red Dot August - marking the return of live shows after the easing up of restrictions at the time.
